Maine State Cage Bird Society was founded March 25, 1990. Article 11.

The Bylaws state the purpose as follows:

--Raise awareness of health needs and care of caged birds in the State of Maine

--Promote education, interest and appreciation of the growth, culture and enjoyment of birds --Provide a support group for new bird owners (and all bird owners ed.)

--Provide friendship between bird lovers

--Promote aviculture of rare birds

--Cooperate with area bird clulbs in matters of mutual interest

--Affiliate with National Aviculture Organizations

--Express the concerns of bird enthusiasts to the legislature and other governing bodies
